*If factory ground is used

How is this kit wired to my truck?

We recommend this kit is installed by someone with basic automotive wiring knowledge.  The kit wires into your factory courtesy cab interior light circuit.  If your truck does not have courtesy lights, you will need to install door switches, available here:

   https://www.summitracing.com/parts/smp-ds173t

If you don't have courtesy lights in your cab, we recommend this kit (which also includes door jam switches):

Why does your kit mount to the truck frame instead of the inner rocker panel?

The typical GM rockers are 18 gauge steel (0.047" thick)

A standard sheet of paper is .004" thick

We have no interest in bolting steps to metal less than the thickness of 12 sheets of paper and then rating it to hold 600 lbs.  That doesn't math  :)

The typical GM 67-72 frame is just over 3/16" thick (and is shaped like a C-channel)

Now that just seems better - doesn't it?

Does this kit work with 1969-72 Blazer / Jimmy?

No - this kit is NOT compatible with 1969-72 Chevrolet K5 Blazer or 1969-72 GMC Jimmy due to their rocker boxes

Where can I buy Amp Research steps?

Amp Research Steps are available from multiple online retailers (search Amazon for 75101-01A) as well as your local truck accessory store.

We can also assist if you need help locating where to purchase them.

You can also select them at check-out on our site

The Amp kit used has 79" long steps - how do they work on a 2-door pickup?  Or driver side of a 3-door Suburban?

The Amp steps are designed to be cut down by the installer.  On our 1972 truck, we cut them at 45"

I have different Amp Steps already for a different vehicle - will these work with your kit?

Our kit is designed to bolt on the specific Amp Step Kits listed above to a 67-72 GM Truck or Suburban.

Other Amp Step kits (especially for later model HD GM Trucks or Jeeps) do not tuck the Amp Steps "up into" the 67-72 GM trucks like the Amp step we recommend.

Specifically, the HD GM trucks or newer Jeep steps do not tuck steps "up into" - they merely fold up against the rocker - and will then still be visible (against the rocker) on your classic truck when retracted.

We cannot guarantee fitment nor compatibility of other Amp Steps with our kit.

Message from our President, Ben:

When Jake at Gold City Trucks @72ochre_cst was building #beerbottlebronze (our company truck), he told me it was “fun” to get into.

With 8” of Skyjacker lift, 1” leveling blocks, 1-ton axles (Dana 60 adds 1” of lift), and 37” tires from Cooper Tire getting up and in wasn’t as simple as stepping in.  I told Jake “it would be fine…”

I was wrong.  😂

Getting in it was not “fine” - it was closer to a different F-word.  😝

But how to NOT ruin the lines of a classic old truck with unsightly steps that are always there?!

Introducing the Engineered Vintage solution to this problem - compatible with 67-72 GM pickups, Suburbans, & panels (not compatible with Blazers)

And our kit doesn't bolt to your thin gauge inner rocker sheet metal - our kit mounts to your frame - it is BEEF!

I run these on my personal rig, I love them, my wife loves them, and they are pretty cool too!  :)
