Description

Engineered Vintage is excited to announce we have partnered with another Pacific Northwest based company, Battle Born Brakes to offer their Leaf Spring Bracket Winch Mount - similar to our popular BBWM (Behind Bumper Winch Mount) designed for 1967 - 1979 Ford trucks.

Designed to fit foot down style winches (see below for more information on what winches that fit) and strengthen the front frame on these trucks with installation of a fabricated front cross-member.  Kit is fabricated from 1/4" steel & sandblasted and powder coated for the most durable finish.

Kit retains your stock front bumper with winch line exiting just underneath the bumper - requiring use of a hawse style fairlead.

Note that the winch mounts upside down in this kit - check with your winch manufacturer on capability of your model winch to be operated & installed upside down.

Note that winch plate comes with light holes standard / lights are sold separately

1967- early 77 F250 kit

(see further down for more info on the late 1977 to 1979 kit)

Kit replaces the 1967-1977 F250 4wd front leaf spring bracket (Hi-boy cross-member) and allows mount up of winch and LED lights, while retaining the front leaf springs.  Kit also has integrated shackle mount tabs welded on the front sides.

Installation requires removal of your original front frame Hi-boy bracket and requires removal of several rivets.  (We recommend using an air hammer)

For use with OEM hi-boy springs & stock front axles only

Included:

  • Leaf Spring Bracket Winch Mount with welded on tabs
  • Hardware for installation
  • New Bolts for leaf spring pivot point (9/16" bolts for OEM 1967-early '77 Ford springs)
  • Installation Instructions

Not Included:

  • LED lights (sold separately)
    • Note that winch plate comes with light holes standard
  • Shackles (sold separately)
  • Winch
    • Winch Fairlead (typically comes with the Winch)
  • Winch hardware
  • Front bumper

Late 1977 to 1979 F250 kit:

Note: This kit will not work with camper special models that have the large radiator hanging below the bottom of the frame.

The 1977.5 - 1979 F250 4wd trucks have two front leaf spring brackets, one on each front frame horn. This kit replaces those two brackets and adds a front crossmember (similar to the stock Hi-Boy trucks.)

The leaf spring mounting holes remain in the original factory location.

This kit allows for mount up of a winch, LED lights,  and front shackles.

The late 1977 to 1979 kit installs (roughly) as follows:

  • There are (3) mounting holes on each side of the winch mount
  • The forwardmost holes are shared in common with OEM mounting holes.
  • The (2) remaining holes on the kit require drilling into frame (4 drilled holes total)  with a 1/2" drill bit.
  • Two angle brackets are included that secure the winch mount into factory original hole locations - no drilling is required for those.

For use with OEM springs & stock front axles only

Installation considerations

Inspect truck frame before installing this kit.  Truck frame should be in good repair before installing.  Frames that have rust holes, been cut, modified, drilled or that have any other damage should be professionally inspected and repaired before installation of this kit.   DO NOT INSTALL THIS KIT ON TRUCKS WITH DAMAGED, CORRODED, BENT, OR HEAVILY MODIFIED FRAMES.

What winches fit?

With the variety of winches available on the market today, note that not all winch combinations may work.  However, rest assured that this kit is designed to fit a wide variety of winches.

Installer should consider how their particular winch will be operated once installed (how to reach winch controls once winch is mounted) and check with their winch manufacturer on capability of their particular winch being mounted and operated upside down.

This Kit is designed to mount feet down style winches with the common 10” x 4.5” bolt pattern.

This kit is not compatible with feet forward style mounted winches (will NOT fit the WARN 8200, 8274, M12000, M15000, M16.5T nor other style winches with feet forward mounts)

Free shipping via UPS in lower 48 United States.  Additional fees for AK & HI & International.

FAQs:

What winches fit?

Please see our list of compatible winches (above)

Is drilling required?

This 67-77 Hi-boy kit requires removal of frame rivets for installation.  An air hammer, die grinder, or drill will be required to remove the rivets.

The late '77 to 79 kit requires drilling (4) 1/2" holes (2 per side) in your truck's frame.

Will the WARN 8200, 8274, M10K, M12000, M15000, or M16.5ti work with this kit?

Please see our list of compatible winches (above)  Short answer is no

We recommend the WARN VR EVO, WARN ZEON, Smittybilt X20, or the Harbor Freight Badlands if you are wanting to run a 10K or 12K capacity winch

Check out our 'GOAT' front winch bumper if you are looking to run one of these heavy capacity winches on your 67-79 Ford truck
